IPOH: Perak police have identified several individuals including civil servants believed to be involved in activities related to the Islamic State (IS) terror group.
Perak police chief Datuk Hasnan Hassan said police have also identified the suspects’ spouses, who were also suspected of having links to IS.
He said all the suspects would be arrested soon.
Hasnan, however, declined to reveal more details, saying the case was still under investigation.
“I cannot reveal the number of those (involved in IS) but they are actively involved in the terror group.
“Some of them are civil servants and they have been supporting and assisting IS. This includes their wives and husbands. They usually move in a group and they do not operate alone.
“These individuals and their spouses are still in the state and we will pick them up soon,” he added.
Hasnan said this during a press conference after witnessing the handing over of duties for the Criminal Investigation Department chief here today.
Senior Assistant Commissioner Yahya Abd Rahman was appointed Perak Criminal Investigation Department chief.
He will replace Datuk Gan Tian Kee, who was promoted to Federal Commercial Crime Investigations Department chief assistant director.
