KUALA LUMPUR: The national team may play Ukraine in an international friendly soon.

This was announced in a posting on the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page following a meeting between FA of Malaysia (FAM) president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and Olexander Nechytaylo, the Ukrainian ambassador to Malaysia on Monday.

"Both parties discussed on the working relationship between Malaysia and Ukraine through football.

"Malaysia could play Ukraine in a friendly which will serve as a great exposure to the local players.”

World No 35 Ukraine are among the best teams in Europe. They reached the quarter-finals of the 2006 World Cup.
